Personal project
brief
Conceive a typeface inspired on traditional Sevillian ceramic signs
overview
The inspiration behind this typeface came during a walk in Seville: an old, handmade ceramic sign. What started as a personal challenge – designing the rest of the uppercase alphabet – ended up as a months-long project of imagining how the rest of the glyphs would look like.
This typographic revival is imbibed with tradition and Andalusian spirit: a condensed warm display serif, with majestic majuscules and minuscules full of character.
The tall proportions of the typeface call back to more solemn times, contrasting with a lowercase set that provides personality and warmth with their generous curves.
Currently unfinished, this font is undergoing the slew of necessary optical adjustments required for a smooth rythm. The typeface will be made available for free when it's finished through standard font distributing platforms.
